SBF’s 780 acres were put into trust in 2005 by its owner, Jean Melarvie, a former Sister of the Trinity, who wanted to give back to God and her community all she received during her days on the farm. Today, a local farmer runs cattle and grows hay, the local after-school program serves children at risk, and the forestry management program protects over 200 acres of woods as a natural sanctuary.
