THINGS TO BRING

Start living simply NOW.
Pack lightly and tightly.

Do not bring anything you don’t want lost, broken, eaten or stolen by others.


MANDATORY

  • flashlightthere’s no electric in the Tool Box
  • winter coat - a “hoodie” is not a winter coat
  • work glovesthese are different from winter gloves
  • work bootsrain boots will do, or two sets of tennis shoes
  • rain coat or poncho - a “hoodie” is not a raincoat
  • slippers or flip-flops the floors are cold and your shoes will be muddy
  • sleeping bagextra blankets are provided just in case
  • pillow casewe have pillows; leave yours at home to save space
  • toiletries - please include a towel/washcloth, it saves on laundry,
    do not bring electric toothbrushes
  • shirtslong sleeves, short sleeves
  • underwearlong underwear, short underwear
  • jeans to work in, sweats to sleep in
  • sweatshirtokay, now you can pack the hoodie
  • DO NOT FORGET: medications for  diabetes, asthma, allergies or other conditions needing regularly prescribed drugs. (dogs, cats, hay, pollen, dust and an occasional fellow student can cause a reaction.)
    DO NOT FORGET: medication for car sickness. (i never got woozy ’til I moved to West Virginia.)

LEAVE in the VAN or at HOME:

  • electronics and musicwe like the quiet
  • any kind of food or drinkcritters will find it, and then you will find them setting up house in your duffel bag and starting a family in your skivies.
  • cell phones (except for leaders) - they don’t work well here anyway, and if we see them, we take them
  • watchesyou’ll be in the present moment at all times
