THINGS TO BRING
Start living simply NOW.
Pack lightly and tightly.
Do not bring anything you don’t want lost, broken, eaten or stolen by others.
MANDATORY
- flashlight – there’s no electric in the Tool Box
- winter coat - a “hoodie” is not a winter coat
- work gloves – these are different from winter gloves
- work boots – rain boots will do, or two sets of tennis shoes
- rain coat or poncho - a “hoodie” is not a raincoat
- slippers or flip-flops – the floors are cold and your shoes will be muddy
- sleeping bag – extra blankets are provided just in case
- pillow case – we have pillows; leave yours at home to save space
- toiletries - please include a towel/washcloth, it saves on laundry,
do not bring electric toothbrushes
- shirts – long sleeves, short sleeves
- underwear – long underwear, short underwear
- jeans to work in, sweats to sleep in
- sweatshirt – okay, now you can pack the hoodie
-
DO NOT FORGET: medications for diabetes, asthma, allergies or other conditions needing regularly prescribed drugs. (dogs, cats, hay, pollen, dust and an occasional fellow student can cause a reaction.)
DO NOT FORGET: medication for car sickness. (i never got woozy ’til I moved to West Virginia.)
LEAVE in the VAN or at HOME:
- electronics and music – we like the quiet
- any kind of food or drink – critters will find it, and then you will find them setting up house in your duffel bag and starting a family in your skivies.
- cell phones (except for leaders) - they don’t work well here anyway, and if we see them, we take them
- watches – you’ll be in the present moment at all times
